Sulley & Menaye Give Back To Ghana For Christmas

Black Stars and Inter Milan player, Sulley Muntari and his wife Menaye Donkor are joining hands to make Christmas a more joyous and happy occasion for those less fortunate than themselves in their home country of Ghana.

The duo will start with a trip to The Menaye International School located in Agona Asafo on Thursday. They hope to inspire the kids and will also ensure that academic facilities and resources are the best they can be in order for the children to have a quality education.

The Menaye International School opened in 2000 with 78 pupils learning in one school block. Now 140 pupils receive a quality education that they would not otherwise have had access to, in three different school blocks. It has so far provided education for over 500 children and gained excellent results in its first BECE examination. The Menaye Charity Organisation provides everything for the school from the physical buildings and equipment through to the teachers’ salaries, uniforms for the students and books and stationery.

Menaye and Sulley continue to drive high standards and improve learning facilities for the children and earlier this year they funded a new library and IT suite at the school. This week the pair will officially open the new facilities to give the children the chance to learn new skills. Menaye’s intention is to grow and develop the Menaye International School in Agona Asafo to meet the needs of more children.

On Monday, both Sulley and Menaye will visit children infected with HIV or AIDS at an orphanage in Somanya and make a donation to help support the orphanage. Charity has always been important to them and they have always strived to help deprived children in Ghana. After winning the title ‘Miss Universe Ghana in 2004’, Menaye set up the Menaye Charity Organisation which, among other things, raises awareness and funds for deprived children in Ghana, particularly children infected with and affected by HIV or AIDS. In the future, Menaye will continue to support Ghana’s orphans, and the education of society about prevention and treatment of HIV and AIDS.

In-between visiting the school and the orphanage, the couple will travel to Kumasi to support ex-Black Star and Bayern Munich player Sammy Osei Kuffour at his testimonial game. Sulley will play for the Black Stars team against the ‘Friends of Kuffour team’ which will be captained by Kuffour himself.
